Firebolt at Daytona.Notice the swingarm ends from an X-1 welded on to support the chain drive. Marchisini wheels. Dual Nissin 6-pot calipers, Full fairing, tank sliders to keep the tank looking nice, 130+RWHP.
16-Dec-01 danneon.hotmail.com - Looks great, I wonder how much stronger that frame really is?
17-Dec-01 miles321.yahoo.com - THATS SWEET!
17-Dec-01 funkodelic1000.aol.com - it must be hard keeping that front down. look how short the wheel base is. imagine having to polish that frame. I'd ride it.
17-Dec-01 Buellster.hotmail.com - I especially like those red tires :)
17-Dec-01 gixxergeoff.hotmail.com - that looks awesome, almost makes me thing about a buell. naaaa
25-Dec-01 robtillman.hotmail.com - Are they gonna race?

Here's the Firebolt in race trim for the Pro Thunder class.
13-Dec-01 miles321.yahoo.com - Looks like Buell will finally start trying to get its act in gear...Good for erik
13-Dec-01 fast_lenz.yahoo.com - look at those humps on the back of his suit...is he storing water in it? muarghahahahaha
13-Dec-01 justin.speedfreeks.net - HOPE THEY GET RID OF THE PUSH ROD TWIN IF THEY WANT A DECENT PERFORMER
14-Dec-01 masrapido.ozu.es - err...fast_lenz, that hump is for protect his cervicals ...how much competition suits have you seen?...not too much, I think...
14-Dec-01 masrapido.ozu.es - they have changed the front perimetral rotor!!!
14-Dec-01 MuzzyX11.aol.com - Correct me if I'm wrong, but since H-D decided to get out of competitive racing(except drag racing), I think Buell should take over the banner.
15-Dec-01 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - No Buell is meant to be a superbike. Would you dog someone on a Ducati 748 or Suzook SV650 for riding a slow bike? I think not. Additionaly, Harley owns a majority interest in BMC, to the tune of something like 98%, if I remember correctly...if they wouldn't shell out the effort then, it's unlikely they will again. The perimeter style brake setup works good for the street with a single rotor...with two the gyroscopic affect would be a hindrance...and racing Pro Thunder with a single disk would make it prone to fading much quicker than its competitors. The Lightning Series bikes retain the stock setup due to the rules limiting modifications. Common sense, ya'll. It's a great machine.
30-Jan-05 enp83.hotmail.com - All the ignorant buell haters need to read this article...
http://a1264.g.akamai.net/7/1264/1354/61c6a5cf78fab2/www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/pdf/PerformanceBikes.pdf
Uh oh, look at the Buell go around corners quicker than the race replicas. Now go ride your spec sheets and pin the throttle back as far as you can
18-Jan-06 nakedtwins.peoplepc.com - ride on..er ...right on!....enp83...just think of the v-rod power plant in there!?

2002 -Buell - FireBolt - 28697
31-May-02 qbzonk.hotmail.com - Not bad for a Harley! Very innovative bike.
01-Jun-02 biceps99.hotmail.com - like putting lipstick on a pig.
01-Jun-02 bloodclaatjamaican.yahoo.com - I think you nailed it biceps...lol
01-Jun-02 adamtaylorfsu.yahoo.com - firebolt for the older gen. Though I'd admit its a piece of work, I not sure yet on what piece that is!
01-Jun-02 KorzikJa.shu.edu - from what i am hearing comparable to a 600cc inline 4 sportbike, yet it does it with more than 600cc. Its not bad because its the best buell has put out yet but its nothing too special.
01-Jun-02 forrys.novacoxmail.com - Except for qb...I think you guys are fools. The bolt may not put out 100hp or weigh 380lbs wet but it is an awesome bike. Sometimes you have to thumb your nose at convention. This bike does just that. Who would have thought going against the grain for design would ever pay off? How many people thought that Porsches design would flop? How many people still think that?
02-Jun-02 forrys.novacoxmail.com - Korz..your comment wasn't there when I posted.

22-May-02 maximodiaz.entelchile.net - yep very nice!
22-May-02 vtr1000.shaw.ca - um, did anyone notice this isn't a sportbike? it's an imposter!
28-May-02 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - Hmmm...75 hp and 60 ft-lbs of torque in a 52" wheelbase with a 21 degree rake that weighs 395 lbs. The thing practically redefines the sporting motorcycle. That's a beautiful pic, too.

15-May-02 iamLisen.aol.com - I like the headlight. My opinion.
15-May-02 zphalvorsen.students.wisc.edu - Definetly different. It will be interesting to see what kind of problems they will have. Usually manufacturers don't go out on the engineering limb, as Buell has done with the Firebolt, without some sort of logistical problems.

2002 -Buell - FireBolt - 33158
30-Aug-02 zx7tiger.yahoo.com - That is a sharp looking bike...bet it still shakes like a hardware store paint mixer though.
30-Aug-02 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - The XB shakes a lot less that previous Buells. I recently read a test of this very bike...and they all only shake under 3000rpm.
30-Aug-02 marty.netbistro.com - ...they also redline at 3000 rpm....;)
05-Sep-02 sharkster0030.yahoo.com - negative...they redline at 7k. Rice starts burning at 10500
23-Oct-02 stormc_2000.yahoo.com - Hey zx7tiger, have you ever ridden a bike that didn't sound like a vacuum cleaner? Have you ever ridden a Buell? The vibes at idle are not bad and they run as smooth as glass on the road.
06-Apr-06 ducatiracerxtc.hotmail.com - Sorry to break your denial guys... Besides this Buell vibrating like a broken laundry washer machine (not paint mixer), it's just not up to par with the rest of the industry. You can't argue with sales stats about this bike compared to Spaghetti Duc's and Ricebikes, which is more than embarrassment for Buell. This Wisconsin kraut bike is too sour even for me to look at! What a piece of junk and waste of Harley R&D funds. And by the way rice burns from 6,000 all the way to 15,500 depending if you're on an R1, Gixxer1K or Zx10R stallion... You obviously know what the burning smoke from the rice smells like from behind, don't you guys?
29-Jul-07 slick_rick_oa23.yahoo.com - XB's have been considered by many experts to be one of the best handling bikes of all time...which has also been proven in a few comparisons. Nobody else in the industry has a chassis that is on par with Buell's. It's designed to be the perfect streetbike and a competent racer.

Mike Ciccoto aboard Hal's HD\Buell's Firbolt.
23-Jul-02 j200pruf.yahoo.com - If I could get this bodywork, I would consider getting a firebolt.
23-Jul-02 zphalvorsen.students.wisc.edu - I have said the same thing j200!! But why can't you get it? I haven't checked for it so I guess I don't know if it is availible or not? Why wouldn't it be? Along with the body work around 115-120 rear wheel horsepower would be nice.
23-Jul-02 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - well, now that the class is defunct, maybe you'll find one on Ebay in the future.
24-Jul-02 my427bbchevy.aol.com - have you checked with airtech, they make full fairings for buells
25-Jul-02 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - The only Airtech fairings currently available to consumers are for the tube framed Buells.
21-Aug-02 j200pruf.yahoo.com - I thought that FUSA was going to take over the Pro Thunder class? And possibly the same with the MBNA 250cc class?
05-Sep-02 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - Pro Thunder is reportedly going to the WERA Challenge Series

Quote from MCN."Buell?s all new Firebolt has a wheelbase 75mm shorter than an R1?s and a steering head angle so steep that it?s likely to become known as the world?s fastest turning production bike."
13-Jul-01 iceman_100.excite.com - "Fastest" and "Buell" don't go together!
13-Jul-01 revnzx7.yahoo.com - "Fastest" and "Buell" do go together when you are speaking of returning the bike for recalls.
13-Jul-01 MartyMcSkinny.neo.rr.com - Soon to be heard at Buell dealer "It is not tank-slapping, those are very, very fast turns."
13-Jul-01 MartyMcSkinny.neo.rr.com - The other shot of this bike looked o.k., but this thing looks UGLY from this angle. Do they beat the exhaust into shape with a hammer?
13-Jul-01 shays_adp.yahoo.com - Don't disparage a bike no one has ridden yet that looks like it has ALL the right numbers -- every body whines that Buells are too heavy and they can't handle well -- so they go out and make one that weighs less than an R6 and will corner like a 748 and you guys all whine. Steering Dampener should be stock, that's for certain.
13-Jul-01 qbzonk.hotmail.com - I don't care how short the wheelbase is....it's still a buell. When will they learn??
17-Jul-01 marchq.hotmail.com - Who is their plumber? Look at that pipework it's, it's, it's.................words fail me I'm sorry, I'm going to cry now
10-Nov-01 slick_rick_oa22.hotmail.com - Pretty innovative. I agree they should have steering dampers stock. The mufflers and huge airboxes on these things are required to meet noise emissions
18-Mar-04 greg.hodginator.com - I have taken the XB12R for a spin, and it's bad a$$. It is the lightest v-twin I have ever sat on, and the low end torque is great out of corners. The XB9R is definetly short on power, but the XB12R is a great bike. Don't knock it before you try it!!

First shot of the left side. Notice the Ram air scoop.
13-Jul-01 iceman_100.excite.com - Cool, front disc..
13-Jul-01 KyleZX9.aol.com - This is pretty sweet... The rims are top notch.
13-Jul-01 coolhandluke5000.aol.com - Now, if Buell could just make a better engine and put the exhaust pipe where it belongs and improve fit and finish and...
13-Jul-01 revnzx7.yahoo.com - NICE ZX6/9 MIRRORS!!! Kawasaki should be proud, since they are exact copies.
13-Jul-01 shays_adp.yahoo.com - I kind of like the pipe location of the Buells - it's at least not the carbon-copy "me-too" mentality of the Japanese.
13-Jul-01 x3m84.hotmail.com - It looks a bit old... Could be the rims...
13-Jul-01 buelligan.columbus.rr.com - you shure as hell won't burn you're leg on the exhaust like a jap bike
13-Jul-01 jd.yahoo.com - I'd buy one, I think.
13-Jul-01 fresno67.yahoo.com - It looks tight, now if they get quality under control... I'd love to have an AMERICAN bike I could be Proud of!
14-Jul-01 pictae13.aol.com - Thats sweet looking, To bad Buell can't make it reliable.
14-Jul-01 masrapido.ozu.es - THE FRAME IS OVERSIZE UNTIL FOR A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE...
17-Jul-01 marchq.hotmail.com - It al looks a bit....well....bended
18-Jul-01 neediroc.hotmail.com - That's because the oil is stored in the frame and the gas is in the swingarm...or vice versa. Too bad they have bad raps cause they're kinda cool looking
29-Aug-01 polivier8.hotmail.com - This bike is a success if Buell has make the Firebolt better than the X1 ( quality ) This bike is beautiful and the v-twin 45 degrees sportbike is very original

New 2002 model.
12-Jul-01 MotoFreud.hotmail.com - They're on their way. But's still a long way to run.
12-Jul-01 maarten_donders.hotmail.com - sweet, looks even better than an x1
12-Jul-01 ride365.pacbell.net - Unlike most people on this site, I think Buell's are beautiful. However this one is fugly.
12-Jul-01 fender.doughmein.net - That's the German engine/liquid cooled Harley in the background, isn't it?
12-Jul-01 fender.doughmein.net - MCN pulled the HD photos off their page, but check out: http://www.labusas.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004161.html
12-Jul-01 Bill.KilgallonFamily.com - 984cc 2 Valve Motor, 385 lbs/dry, 92 crank hp, 80 ft lbs (!) torque, 4 qts oil in swingarm, Fuel in frame, 52 in wheelbase, 21 degrees of rake, Perimeter style brakes w/6 piston calipers... I love it.
12-Jul-01 fresno67.yahoo.com - That is sweet, if they get their quality under control I might get one untill then my 15yo FJ12 is more reliable
12-Jul-01 revnzx7.yahoo.com - Fresno67... your 15 year old FJ12, is probably more powerful, alot more reliable, and a whole lot cheaper. You should post a picture!! Rather see it than this.
13-Jul-01 cyclrmania.yahoo.com - Despite the lack of fairing, it looks a little like an R1.
13-Jul-01 mister_wong.hotmail.com - ...its still a "buell"...
13-Jul-01 shays_adp.yahoo.com - Fuel in frame? Tikes.
14-Jul-01 ccnik.hotmail.com - I like it! Hope it performs better than the pre-this one.

15-Oct-02 hnazari101.home.com - Buell. lol
15-Oct-02 zhenfang.yahoo.com - Shoot you think that's bad, try to tip with only one foot like me. Can't help it guys when you are short, you are short. I have no problem riding my ZX6-R, my problem is backing up. I even shave down my seat about 2 inches. When I first start out, I took off the seat, and just use the seat undercover plastic portion. It's a little rough on my a$$, but it works.
