19-Mar-01 Slamz54.frontiernet.net - Where did you get that lower fairing, it looks real good?
19-Mar-01 Hailwood78.hotmail.com - The lower fairing came from Lockhart Phillips. I picked up the matching Honda decals at a motorcycle show.
20-Mar-01 glock4501.hotmail.com - when honda first intoduced this bike, i had mixed feelings. But this looks pretty good.

2000 HONDA VTR 1000

For Sale Honda VTR1000, Went under the knife friday after suffering on and off with a ruptured disc for the last five years. This is on top of the reconsructive knee surgeries back in '99. Between the gimped knees and back I've been thinking about selling or trading my '98 Honda VTR. It's silver with CF/kevlar 6 gal tank, Cf/kevlar fairing, Ohlins rear shock, RaceTeched fork internals, Hi-Point forged aluminum wheels, new D208ZRs, Sargeant world Sport Seat, Brembo radial Fr/Br master cyl, K&N filter, HRC jet kit, Tail locker, Rear brake/turn signal integrator/eliminator, Cf case and frame covers, front and rear Pitbull stands, AFAM chain and sporckets (and new spares in boxes). I bought the bike about 2 1/2 years ago from CarboTex who built it as a showbike. I've put about 12k miles of street riding on the bike, mostly 100-200 mile day rides. The bike has seen one track day but the bodywork is a bit expensive for track duty. It's a nice real world sport/street that would cost over $20,000 to build new. Bike is in Phoenix, AZ. Will help arrange shipping. $7,500 contact: richardlcooper@cox.net

09-Oct-03 RC51Stunna.netscape.net - Thats hot! I would just get rid of those flushmounts, and put some highmounts Moriwakis on there.. Stunna
09-Oct-03 phuzzygnu.phuzzygnu.com - Don't sell the bike! I am 29 and I have Ankylosing Spondilitis, a condition which causes spinal degeneration and eventual fusion. In my case, my luimbar and thoracic spine and sacroiliac joints are nearly fused and I have limited chest expansion. I live every day with incredible stiffness and pain. Every ride can be painful, and hitting a big bump or dip in the road can almost bring me to tears. I am barely able to get onto the bike in the morning. Nonetheless, I am close to 60,000 miles on my CBR1100XX- the Ohlins rear and Helibars help a lot. As long as I can get onto the bike I will ride. It's good for the soul.
09-Oct-03 cr53.qwest.net - The flushmount "carbon" signals are a bit dorky, but weren't worth the effor to change. I had a beautiful set of remus high mount carbons, but I am 6'5' tall with size 14 boot. I couldn't fit my foot on the pegs without my feeld hitting the midpipes unless I rode on my heels, then my toes would drag.
10-Oct-03 RC51Stunna.netscape.net - I understand.. Mand you did a great job on that bike.. I used to have a '98.. Phuzzy you are the man.. I like to think that I have your dedication and love for the sport, without the medical condition.. I commend you!!!!! RIDE ON!!!!
10-Oct-03 cr53.qwest.net - Hey phuzzy, I was planning on buying another bike soon. Either the FJR1300, BMW R1150RT or Ducati ST4S. Time for something that is a little gentler on the back and knees and more long legged for Arizona riding. I live almost a hundred miles from the mountain and canyon roads. I need something to get me there in comfort, then keep me riding all day.
10-Oct-03 phuzzygnu.phuzzygnu.com - The CBR1100XX is good, but the peegs are a little high, even for good knees. I'm 6'4" 240 with a 36" inseam. Of the three you mentioned, the BMW is my fave- but have you considered an R1150GS? I've followed a nut on a GS on Austin's Lime Creek Road and he was dragging engine cases! Seriously, the big GS is a riot.
10-Oct-03 cr53.qwest.net - I dig the GS, but just not worth the creature comfort trade-offs of the RT for me. I rode an r1100rt up and down route 666 on the AZ/NM border a few years ago, and I just couldn't believe how capable it was on twisty roads. Even embarassed an F3 and an R1 pilot who were busy telling trackday stories all weekend.
